March 14, 2016
By Chip Ganassi Racing
The NASCAR XFINITY Series’ second of three west coast races took place at the 1.0-mile D-shaped Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) on Saturday afternoon. Sunoco Rookie of the Year Contender Brennan Poole wheeled the No. 48 DC Solar Chevy for the 200-lap race to a 10th-place result, his first top-10 of the 2016 season.
Despite being under the weather, Poole started 17th for the 200-mile race and quickly reported the car was too loose. During the first two pit stops of the race the DC Solar crew made two large track bar adjustments to tighten up the car. With the handling more to Poole’s liking, he made a last lap charge to gain 10th-place.
NOTES OF INTEREST:
- This was Poole’s second XFINITY Series start at PIR
- This was Poole’s first top-10 finish of the 2016 season and third of his XFINITY Series career
- Poole jumped two spots to ninth in the XFINITY Series drivers’ standings
- The race was slowed by three cautions for 16 laps
Brennan Poole, No. 48 DC Solar Chevrolet Camaro – “We fought really hard with our DC Solar Chevy. We started out too loose and improved the car a lot on the first two pit stops. The car was the best all day on the final run and I was able to catch Brandon Jones on the final lap for 10th-place. Big thanks to my guys who worked so hard repairing the car after my accident on Friday. We continue to make big gains every week and I am looking forward to racing at Auto Club Speedway for the first time next week.”
