The NASCAR XFINITY Series completed the three-race west coast swing on Saturday afternoon at the 2.0-mile Auto Club Speedway (ACS). Rookie of the Year contender Brennan Poole wheeled the No. 48 DC Solar Chevy for the 200-lap race to a 13th-place result, his fourth top-15 of the 2016 season.
Poole started ninth for the 300-mile race and quickly reported the car was too tight. During the first two pit stops of the race, the DC Solar crew made two large track bar adjustments to loosen up the car. With just 15 laps remaining Poole, who running in the top-10, was forced to make a quick pit stop for fuel. Once returning to the track he brought the car to the checkered flag in 13th position.
NOTES OF INTEREST:
- This was Poole’s first XFINITY Series start at ACS
- Poole now sits 10th in the XFINITY Series driver’s standings
- The race was slowed by four cautions for 16 laps
- The race saw 12 lead changes among eight drivers
Brennan Poole, No. 48 DC Solar Chevrolet Camaro – “We had an up and down day with the DC Solar Chevy. At the start of the race, the car was too tight but we continued to make improvements as the race went along. The restarts were really crazy which made it challenging for me get back into a rhythm. On the second-to-last pit stop we didn’t get the car full of fuel which forced us to short pit with 15 laps to go. I think we continue to make great strides with our 1.5-mile program at Chip Ganassi Racing, which makes me excited to race at my home track in Texas in two weeks.”
The NASCAR XFINITY Series will move to the Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) in two weeks on Friday, Apr. 8, 2016 for the O’ Reilly Auto Parts 300. FOX Sports 1, Sirius XM NASCAR Channel 90 and PRN Radio will have live coverage beginning at 8:30 pm ET.
