DC Solar Shines Bright for Top Student Runners
Every year in September, top ranked individual runners and teams meet in Orange County for one of the most anticipated high school cross country races in the U.S. – the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic. Held over the course of two nights, this year’s race took place on September 18 and 19 at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, where DC Solar was on hand with 45 light towers in order to illuminate the race path for the runners. DC Solar also provided additional safety lighting for the parking lots.
According the meet’s manager, George Vargas, this year’s event was the largest (14,750 registered runners and 11,560 finishers) and most competitive in the Woodbridge Classic’s long and storied history — past participants included nationally ranked runners, as well as Olympic athletes.
An added feature to the meet this year was the use of DC Solar mobile light towers. Vargas took particular note of how our clean energy products enhanced the overall experience for the runners: “These lights gave out a softer — non-blinding as you approach on the course — light and produced zero noise and zero pollution. This is a great improvement of the running environment for runners and extremely healthy one for the runners and the spectators.”
We are proud to have been part of such an iconic sporting event, and we wish all the runners well as the season advances!
